All About Air Conditioning
The New York Stock Exchange was the very first building ever to use air conditioning systems to cool and heat the air. This was in the year 1902. The very first electrically run air conditioning unit was installed at a printing plant by Willis Havilland Carrier later that year. Not only did the unit cool the air, but the humidity was also controlled. You may want to check out Albany Air Conditioning for more.
We all know that you feel cool about air conditioning, but there’s more to it than just cooling us down. It means maintaining the air temperature and humidity (moisture content) in an enclosed space, whether it is a single room or a whole house, at just the right level for people’s comfort inside. It can also circulate the air, if necessary adding moisture to it. Typically, it means removing heat during the summer by passing the air over and through cold pipes collecting water from the air itself. This works just like the way water condenses on a hot day on a cold glass of water. In fact, we could almost say that air conditioning means creating a comfortable, artificial climate. We’ll just address cooling in this post.
A phoenix air-conditioning unit cools the air through a refrigerant, a substance which changes the air temperature. The air conditioning units used dangerous gasses such as ammonia and methyl chloride as refrigerants in the early stages of its development. They were soon replaced by another form of chemical named Freon, the patented substance.
In addition to keeping us comfortable, air conditioning has a ton of uses. Many factories rely on it to keep the air in their plants clean, cool and at the appropriate level of humidity. Textile fabric like wool and cotton, for example, can stretch or shrink as the moisture content changes in the air. That causes many subtle variations in the cloth ‘s quality. Too much air moisture-or even on the hands of a worker-can cause corroding of fragile metal parts such as rocket components or precision instruments. A batch of antibiotic culture can be easily poisoned by the wrong temperature. Proper air conditioning is stopping this mishap from ever happening.
Air-conditioning systems usually have various types of cooling cycles. The first type uses a heat pump that pushes out hot air from the room and through a compressor brings in cooled air. The second form of refrigerant pumps in. When the refrigerant evaporates, the hot air is taken with it and cooled air is left for us to enjoy.
